The Historic Reno Post Office/ The Basement Reno

50 South Virginia Street — especially its shops and restaurants in The Basement and on the First Floor — is a hidden gem. The building is one of Reno’s most historic, a former U.S. Post Office, built in 1932. (Take a video tour of this one-of-a-kind building here.) This unique venue is a home away from home for those seeking the trendiest, tastiest, and most cutting-edge concepts offered in a modern day marketplace.

Our mission is to be the incubator space for retail and food vendors who celebrate everything handmade, and to create a small-business culture in the downtown corridor of Reno, Nev.

The Basement and the shops on the First Floor have reinvented what it means to be social, healthy, and productive by creating a culture of collaboration. Here you’ll find unexpected goods and services.

We occasionally have retail spaces available for lease, and office space, too. Please call 775-771-0334 for information.

Entrepreneurs building a dream

There are no large retail brands located in The Basement or on our First Floor. Here you’ll only find motivated small business owners working to turn their dreams into reality. Our marketplace is the most tight knit group of diverse businesses that can be found in Reno. You won’t want to just buy a few things and leave. We invite you to listen and share stories while enjoying a unique modern environment surrounded by history.

A gathering place

Whether you’re looking for a place to study, have a business meeting, or entertain a date, 50 South Virginia won’t disappoint.

While preserving much of the original structure, we created unique spaces with multiple storefronts that allow your to casually browse and explore.

The corners and hallways of this historic building combine with the open, artistic environment just outside to present stimulating scenery that never gets boring.

The four seasons in Reno are easily observable on the Truckee River as well is throughout 50 South Virginia. Our vendors decorate the halls and their stores according to the calendar and their many traditions. This space is a hub of culture and expression year-round.
